At JT Builds and SC, we take pride in our expertise in handling complex structural transformations, and one of our longest projects of the year truly put our skills to the test. This multi-stage job included everything from loft additions to structural supports and even a full kitchen renovation.
We knew this renovation/conversion project would be a challenging yet rewarding endeavour. The transformation began with a loft expansion and various interior modifications. With careful planning, we completed room additions in the loft and successfully integrated new spaces into the existing structure. For instance, some rooms required steel beam installations, including beams anchored at ground level with support posts extending from them. These intricate structural components were skilfully integrated and are just part of what we handle every week at JT Builds and Specialised Carpentry.
One of the most challenging parts of this project was removing a chimney (see below) that spanned two floors. Supporting the load required a heavy-duty steel beam with a 15mm steel plate welded on top. Thanks to our team’s coordination, the help of a Genie lift, and some careful maneuvering, we positioned the steel beam safely and precisely. Now, it stands strong, supporting the weight of two floors above it.
Our work on this project also included removing interior walls to open up the space for a modern kitchen installation. At JT Builds and Specialised Carpentry, we excel in making these transformations seamless—from wall demolition to full kitchen installations. In this job, we managed all aspects, including structural steel installation, new plumbing and electrical systems, and the complete kitchen supply and fit.
