Do I need planning permission for a porch?
Most porches are permitted development — you don’t need planning permission if the porch is under 3 square metres in floor area, is less than 3 metres high, and is more than 2 metres from the boundary of the property with a road. Can you replace just the door, or does the frame need to come out too?
It depends on the condition and type of the existing frame. If the frame is sound and the right size for the new door, we can often fit to the existing frame. If the frame is rotten, out of square, or the wrong profile for the new door, replacement makes more sense. We’ll assess this on the initial visit and give you options.
